De Kunst van het Denken [The Art of Thinking] available in Dutch only by Guus Geisen
Based on insights derived from brain research, this book has greatly increased my understanding of the quality of learning and the learning process. It paints a clear picture of what the provision of good education is all about: the importance of emotion to learning, the importance of focused attention. Inspiringly written and immediately applicable the next day in the classroom. Personally, I set to work at once with giving the pupils greater choice as to how they processed the subject matter. Evaluation was something I was already doing with the children, but now I started doing it with more deepening. As a language coordinator, I now promote the ‘look and listen chair’ when I am visiting other classes.
In addition, the book has contributed in a positive way to my own personal growth. I am enjoying the benefit of this in my roles as teacher, mother and person.
