The architecture of the community
In the past century, the family was the cornerstone of the community. In this century the community is the centre of the culture and our 'world village'. The most important aspect of the future of our children (worldwide) will be sustainable development. The community as the centre means that, as involved parties, we are all important and that the quality of the community depends on the quality of the cooperation in that community.
Cooperating children as the basis
When children learn to cooperate well , we are forming the basis for good cooperation in the community. We can also ask ourselves the question what 'our’ community is? Who belongs to it? Who are all the people who are involved in the community to which the school belongs? We want as many as possible of those involved to engage in the process.
How do we want to involve the community as much as possible? An example.
Senior citizens can be meaningful in the pre- and after-school childcare in the building where they themselves live (or in a nearby building). A local resident may work with the children in the school garden to convey to them the idea of the seasons and how food grows. In return, if the school generates its own electricity, the surplus can be gifted to this volunteer. This will reduce the volunteer’s electricity bill.
The possibilities of sustainable cooperation in the community are unlimited
